The Voice Of An Immigrant
The Voice Of An Immigrant
By: Adrian Lopez
I run for a better future
I swim for an opportunity to live the American Dream
Why are we afraid of deportation?
Because, back there all we saw was devastation
Getting paid below the minimum wage
That is no life for a person
I am just a violation
All they want is termination
Categorized as a “wetback”
Yet we still support half of America
I am in a place called alienation
But I have all the determination
Why do I feel like I do not belong?
What is so wrong about wanting to be a citizen?
All I need is legalization
But I am not ashamed to say that I am from a Mexican Nation.
